Mark Walton
“God has done many amazing things at Glenwood through the years, but at no time in my experience here has
His hand been more evidently at work than right now. The Lord has transformed Glenwood into
an authentic New Testament church, and that is a beautiful thing to behold.”
Mark was called to Oak Ridge in 2004 to serve as Glenwood’s senior pastor, after having served as pastor or interim pastor in North Carolina churches since 1990. Prior to entering pastoral ministry, Mark was an engineer for a major yacht manufacturing company in North Carolina. Concurrent with the Glenwood pastorate, Mark also served as an adjunct professor of Systematic Theology for the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Liberty University. He is married to Sandy, and they have two sons and two grandchildren. Mark enjoys time spent outdoors, working with his tractor, spending time with family, and writing. His theological education includes: a B.A. in Biblical Studies (1996) from Luther Rice Seminary, and the M.Div. (1999) and Ph.D. in Systematic Theology (2002) from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
